Storage recommendation:

•Dry product may be stored at room temperature, in refrigerator, or in freezer at least until the code date on the package.

•Prepared product should be consumed within 1 week of preparation.

•Let product cool completely before storing.

•Store with loose fitting lid when at room temperature.

•Batter can be stored covered in refrigerator for no more than 3 days.


What to look for if the product is bad:

•Dry product: lumps, clumping, infestation, and atypical odor.

•Prepared product: Mold or discoloration


Substitution ratios in recipes:

Why did you remove the soy? 

Soy is one of the 8 major allergens.  Many people cannot have soy.  Also soy in products requires

extra cleaning on the production line.


 

Is this considered a whole grain food product?

Yes, the blend is 72% whole grain ingredients. Whole Wheat flour and Yellow Cornmeal of whole grain.

 28g of whole grain per 40 g serving.



Can I add ingredients to my pancakes?

Up to 1/2 cup of favorite fruits, nuts, or seeds may be added. Dried fruits should be soaked first.


 

Can I make other things with this mix?

We have not tested this product in other recipes.


 

What if my mix is too thick or too thin?

Add additional mix if it is too thin. If it is too thick, add extra liquid (1 tablespoon at a time until the desired texture is achieved.)


 

Why are my pancakes tough?

You may have over mixed them. Excess stirring can cause the pancakes to be tough.


 

What is monocalcium phosphate?  

Monocalcium phosphate is used as a leavening agent. Leavening agent is a substance used in

batters and doughs, which causes a foaming action that softens the finished products. It is used in baking powders, baking mixes for cakes, in cookies, doughnuts, energy powders and soft drinks. It is used in canned fruits and vegetables like canned potatoes and tomatoes, since it provides calcium that is useful in maintaining firmness of these fruits and vegetables. It is also a food additive which preserves flavor of the food and also enhances its appearance and taste.



What are the health effects of monocalcium phosphate? 

Monocalcium phosphate has calcium and phosphorus which helps in maintaining strong bones and teeth. It is said to be helpful in preventing colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer occurs when the cellin the lining of the large intestine begin to multiply abnormally fast. According to research in Oregon State University a decreased rate of colorectal cancer has been noticed in people who consume large amounts of monocalcium phosphate. It also aids in the proper functioning of nervous system by allowing the healthy production and function of neurotransmitters that help the nerves signal

each other.Monocalcium phosphate is very beneficial for bones and teeth. Not enough is known about monocalcium phosphate to evaluate it for consumption during pregnancy.
