Why did you change your Whole Wheat Gingerbread formula? 

We ran into a ingredients issue and made the decision to reformulate this popular mix in order to ensure we make only the best products using the highest quality ingredients, now and in the future.


 

What changes were made?

The new mix does not require egg or milk. With those ingredients removed, the dairy allergen is no longer an issue.It also meets the guidelines of a vegetarian lifestyle.



What are the small seeds in the mix? 

The new mix contains Chia Seeds. Chia Seeds are very nutritious.They are high in antioxidants, contain Calcium, Vitamin C, Potassium, packed with Omega-3 fatty acids and protein.They also improve heart health. Combined with the Milled Flax Seed, you are getting additional nutrition in this already healthy mix. Hodgson Mill also sells the Flax Chia blend as a separate product.



What is malt extract and what does it do?

Malt extract is an all natural, nutritious, whole grain sweetener. It is produced from malted barley, a whole grain with natural enzymes. It adds flavor, body, and nutrition to baked goods. It typically has 6% protein, numerous free amino acids, minerals, vitamins and is an excellent anti-oxidant.



What is vegetable protein and what are the nutritional benefits?

  It is an ingredient that is used to improve the structure of the mix and increase the moisture.  It is completely allergen free. This ingredient contains none of the major allergens- according to the supplier the  ingredient is Psyllium fiber.



Can I make muffins with this mix? 

Yes. Follow directions on the box. Put in muffin tin or papers. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.



How can I make this taste like the original blend?

We have created a recipe that adds additional ingredients.The taste tests were very positive and we feel like it is very close to the original recipe. We can send you a copy by mail, fax or e-mail.


 

Is there any Sulfites in the ginger?

No there is not.



Why is there clumping?

Some clumping can be normal for this product; we don’t use any artificial additives in this product to prevent it. You should be able to break apart any lumps with a fork and light pressure. Clumping is more common if the product has been stored somewhere warm, either in stores, warehouses, or in your home.
