.

Is it considered whole grain?

Yes, quinoa and whole grain brown rice are both whole grain.

What is quinoa?

Quinoa is considered to be one of the “ancient grains”. It was first grown in the Andes Mountains. It is also grown in South America and Colorado Rocky Mountains. It is actually a seed and belongs to the same family as beets and spinach. It is 100% whole grain. It is a great food for vegetarians as it contains complete proteins along with fiber, potassium, Vitamin E, iron, magnesium and other vitamins and minerals. It can be found in several different colors: yellow, red, brown and black. In its natural state, it has a coating of bitter tasting saponins. Quinoa sold commercially in North America has been processed to remove this coating. The quinoa in this product is pre-washed.

Where does your Quinoa come from?

The quinoa in our product is imported by American importers from Bolivia or Peru.

Where does the Brown Rice come from?

The brown rice comes from Arkansas.

Why are the spices so mild?

These side dishes are very low in sodium. If salt is added, the other spices will become more enhanced.

Is there sodium added to the blend?

The sodium in the spice blends are naturally occurring.

What is parboiled brown rice?

It is produced from only top quality parboiled long grain brown rice through an innovative process without chemical additives. It provides the convenience of ¼ the cook time while maintaining texture quality that closely matches the conventional brown rice.
