Substitution ratios in recipes:

•Butter: ½ cup butter flavor Crisco plus 1 Tbsp water or ¼ cup + 2 Tbsp oil in place of ½ c butter

•Eggs; ½ cup plain applesauce (1/4 cup per egg)or 1 Tbsp milled flax seed + 3 Tbsp water (1 egg)

•Buttermilk: 1 cup almond milk with 1 tbsp. of vinegar or lemon juice to sour the milk or 

1 cup orange juice

•Almond extract can be substituted with all vanilla extract.

How can I be sure it is Gluten Free?   

Celiac Support Association certifies it to be 5 ppm. It is produced in a gluten free environment on a dedicated line. Batches are tested used Elisa Gluten Assay test.



Is it considered whole grain? 

Yes, 15g per serving.



Can I substitute egg beaters or egg whites only for the two whole eggs? 

Yes



Can I use whole milk or 2% in place of the buttermilk?

No, use sour milk with vinegar or lemon juice.



How do I make buttermilk?

Add 1 Tbsp. of vinegar or lemon juice to 1 cup of milk.Let stand 5 minutes before using.



Can I make cookies with the cake mix? 

(Tip submitted by one of our loyal customers)One cake mix, one container of whipped topping and two eggs. Drop the dough by spoonfuls into powdered sugar and roll them around.Place on parchment lined cookie sheet.Bake at 350 until firm to the touch. She has also added chocolate chips and nuts.



Banana Bread recipe (submitted by customer)

Prepare cake mix as instructed on the box but add three ripe smashed bananas and bake in a bundt pan.



Can I make a 9x13 cake with this mix?

It would be very thin. We would recommend an 11x8 with a baking time of around 23 minutes.
